Two similar Cadillac Escalade build sheets use different codes for what appears to be the same feature. Mine uses 33H, described as “Cloth interior trim: Light Cashmere/Medium Dark Cashmere (H) (04). This code identifies the factory upholstery material, color combination, or interior trim specification” Can anyone explain how these variations are normally handled?

That code should be read as a factory configuration identifier, not necessarily a guarantee of a separate dashboard control. Some equipment operates automatically or is bundled with another system.

The safest interpretation is the one tied to the exact VIN, model year, platform, and market. In general, 33H matches “Cloth interior trim: Light Cashmere/Medium Dark Cashmere (H) (04). This code identifies the factory upholstery material, color combination, or interior trim specification” but the included hardware can vary between applications.

I would avoid buying retrofit parts until the connectors and module support are confirmed. Returning electronic or VIN-programmed components can be difficult.

If you are documenting the vehicle, save both the original wording and the readable explanation. That preserves the factory terminology while making the record understandable later.

Check the production month as well as the model year. Mid-year changes are one reason two vehicles with the same badge can have different hardware or descriptions.

I found a second document with the same code, so it looks like the original configuration is confirmed. The marketing name was what caused the confusion.
