My 2021 Chevrolet Camaro did not appear to leave the factory with the setup identified by 528: “Leather interior trim: Medium Neutral II. This code identifies the factory upholstery material, color combination, or interior trim specification” I am considering adding it. Does the retrofit normally involve control-module programming, a different harness, or additional hardware?

Some codes are reused across several brands, but that does not always mean the parts are identical. Model, trim, drivetrain, and production date can all matter.

My experience has been positive, but the benefit depends on how the vehicle is used. I would treat 528 as confirmation of the configuration, then evaluate whether that equipment matters for your driving.

On these vehicles, similar descriptions can use different codes because of supplier changes or package combinations. The code itself is useful, but the VIN-specific parts catalog is better before ordering anything.

For a retrofit, check the modules, wiring connectors, software configuration, and compatible part numbers first. Installing the visible component alone may not make the feature operational.
