The wording may be abbreviated because these were originally production codes rather than consumer descriptions. “Seat belt: Color, Tension Blue. This code identifies a factory seat, restraint, upholstery, or seating-layout feature” is a reasonable plain-English reading, but the exact implementation should be verified for the 2015 model.

This sounds more like a documentation mismatch than a decoder error. Different databases often shorten the same factory description in different ways.

I would start by checking the original build sheet and then compare the physical equipment on the vehicle. A sales or option code confirms the factory record, but it does not prove that every original component is still installed.

The dealer should be able to pull a VIN-specific equipment or parts record. Ask them to search by VIN rather than entering only the three-character code.

I have seen this on a similar Cadillac CT5. The basic description was correct, but one related feature was part of a separate package. I would not assume the code includes every item mentioned in marketing material.

Some codes are reused across several brands, but that does not always mean the parts are identical. Model, trim, drivetrain, and production date can all matter.

A window sticker is helpful for customer-facing option names, while the build sheet is usually more detailed. If they disagree, the vehicle-specific dealer equipment list can help connect the sales name to 3A9.
